More specifically, the DW-H5600-1 starting model will now retail at RM 1,345 instead of RM 1,595, which was originally advertised on Casio’s website prior to this. Meanwhile, the stainless steel DW-H5600MB models and the DW-H5600EX-1 special edition are now priced at RM 1,395 and RM 1,995 respectively. [Original Story – 9.5.2023, 4:30pm] Casio Malaysia has revealed via its official website that its latest hybrid smartwatch, the G-Shock G-SQUAD DW-H5600 series, will be arriving for the local market next week. As you may recall, the line-up is a special modernised update to the classic G-Shock DW-5600 model, featuring numerous current-age technologies such as a built-in heart rate sensor and more. Like the watch that it is inspired from, the G-Shock G-SQUAD DW-5600 also shares the same design, but with some differences to accommodate the new smart features that it comes with. For starters, it is equipped with a new mono MIP LCD screen with LED backlight, which has an updated interface that now includes indicators for the battery, heart rate and message notifications. Also new is a stainless steel back plate with charging port and Polar-powered optical health tracking sensors, a built-in rechargeable battery, and solar charging support. The hybrid smartwatch will be available in three variants; each with different finishing, with one of which being a special edition release. The first from the set is the DW-H5600-1 model, which is offered with the brand’s signature shock-resistant resin body in a single black colour, while the DW-H5600MB comes with a stainless steel bezel and is available in black and blue colours. Lastly, there’s the DW-H5600EX-1 model which has the same build as the latter variant, but features drafting line patterns throughout its body and straps. Casio says these patterns are inspired by the technical drawings for the first-ever G-Shock watch, the DW-5000C. Features-wise, all three G-SQUAD DW-5600 models come with four activity tracking features (running, walking, gym workout, and interval timer), as well as several health monitoring functions including for heart rate, blood oxygen, sleep, step count, and calorie consumption. Even though it is capable of connecting to smartphones via Bluetooth, keep in mind that available functions are limited to automatic time and distance correction, easy watch setting, world time and phone finder, while incoming messages only appear as a notification rather than a snippet of text. In terms of battery life, Casio says the hybrid watch is able to last up to 35 hours with the heart rate monitor activated, up to a month with the function turned off, and up to a whopping 11 months on power saving mode. While it was mentioned earlier that it comes with solar charging capabilities, take note that the feature is merely a secondary charging approach meant for slight top-ups. When connected to the proprietary cable, the DW-H5600 series are said to take about three hours for a full charge. All three variants of the new G-Shock G-SQUAD DW-H5600 will be available in Malaysia next Friday on 19 May 2023 via the official Casio online store and authorised distributors nationwide. The standard DW-H5600-1 model will retail for RM 1,595, the DW-H5600MB at RM 1,695, and the special edition DW-H5600EX at a heftier price tag of RM 2,195. (Source: Casio Malaysia [1] [2] [3])
