The OPPO A98 sports a 6.72-inch 1080p LCD display with a refresh rate of 120Hz, 680 nits peak brightness, Panda Glass for protection, and a backplate design that the company claims is resistant to fingerprint smudges. It comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, dual-stereo speakers, and an Ultra Volume Mode 2.0 that can pump the volume of the sounds coming out of the speakers by 200%. Inside, the A98 runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chipset with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage. The RAM can be expanded by another 9GB with virtual RAM by utilising unused storage, which isn’t uncommon these days, and it also has a microSD card slot for storage expansion. OPPO fitted the device with a three-camera setup on the back, comprised of a 64MP main shooter, which unfortunately lacks OIS, a 2MP mono sensor, and a 2MP microscope lens that boasts an astounding 40x zoom. Up front, the punch-hole cutout houses a 16MP selfie snapper. Powering the mid-range phone is a standard 5,000mAh battery with support for 67W SUPERVOOC fast charging. When it comes to connectivity, the OPPO A98 supports Wi-Fi 5, 5G, Bluetooth 5.1, Bluetooth Low Energy, NFC, and it even comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack. It ships with ColorOS 13.1 and is available in black and dreamy blue colour options. The OPPO A98 5G is available for purchase at RM1,399, with pre-orders open from 15 May to 18 May. Those who pre-order will get free perks worth RM377, including an OPPO Band for the first 25 customers, a pair of wireless earbuds, and an additional year of warranty. (Source: OPPO)
