While the brand itself has not made any official announcement of the device, it has been rumoured for months that the POCO F5 will just be a rebadged version of Redmi’s upcoming Note 12 Turbo. The latter is set to be unveiled on 23 March and has been confirmed by Xiaomi that it will be powered by the new Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2 chipset from Qualcomm. The Redmi Note 12 Turbo is expected to sport a 6.67-inch 1080p AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a peak brightness of 1,400 nits. Additionally, it will have an under-display fingerprint scanner, whereas other devices in the Note 12 series will supposedly come with a side-mounted fingerprint reader. What makes this midrange product even more interesting is that it is rumoured to pack a massive 5,500mAh battery with support for 67W wired charging and 30W wireless charging. As for the camera system, reports claim that it will feature a triple-camera rear setup made up of a 50MP primary shooter, 8MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP macro sensor alongside a 16MP selfie lens. The report does not mention if the POCO F5 Pro will be released at the same time as the vanilla F5, which will apparently be a rebranded Redmi K60. If the rumour rings true, then the Pro will be running on last year’s Qualcomm flagship chip, the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1. There is a very good chance that the POCO F5 Pro will be coming to Malaysia eventually as it was spotted in SIRIM’s database last month. As for the base POCO F5, it has not made an appearance yet so it is unclear if it will ever make its way here. (Source: 91mobiles)
