This time around, Twitter Blue is rolling out with new review policies that hopefully mitigate the issues it saw during the last launch. Subscribers will need to confirm their phone number when signing up and if they make any changes to their profile photo, display name, or handle, they will temporarily lose the blue checkmark until the account is reviewed and validated.
— Twitter (@Twitter) December 10, 2022 Other features of the subscription include the ability to edit tweets, upload 1080p videos, use reader mode, undo tweets, and access some customisation options. The site also says that new features such as prioritised tweets, 50% fewer ads, and posting longer videos will be coming soon. The platform is adding a gold checkmark to denote official businesses, replacing the “official” label for subscribers of Twitter Blue for Business. It’s also planning to use grey checkmarks for government and multilateral accounts.
Interestingly, Twitter owner Elon Musk confirmed in a tweet that the social media giant will be increasing the character limit from 280 to a whopping 4,000 characters. It’s unclear when exactly the change will happen and whether or not it would replace the Notes feature. Twitter Blue is currently only available in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom, although the company plans to expand to more countries in the future. Pricing for web users remains the same at US$8 (~RM35) per month while those who subscribe through iOS will have to fork up US$11 (~RM48 ) per month. (Source: Twitter)
