U Home 5G is a SIM-only plan, meaning that you can use it with any modem or router that supports SIM cards as well as any other device that you can fit it into, including smartphones, tablets, smart cameras, GPS trackers, and even portable hotspot devices. Of course, it will only have data with no calls available. It seems that the telco won’t provide a router for customers so if you don’t already have one, you’ll need to purchase it yourself. The carrier recommends ZTE 5G routers to take advantage of the 5G network, but even 4G-enabled routers are compatible with the service. For speeds, it says that Digital Nasional Berhad promises a minimum download speed of 100Mbps when using 5G. There is no data cap but U Mobile states that it may restrict your speeds if it detects abuse above 1,000GB. The U Home 5G plan costs RM78 per month with no contract, but during the ongoing promo period, which lasts until further notice, customers will get a RM10 monthly rebate for life. Malaysian citizens only need to pay a one-month advance payment while foreigners need to fork up a RM500 refundable deposit when signing up. Those who are currently subscribed to a wireless broadband plan have the option to switch to U Home 5G, although any unused quota or offerings in the previous plan will be forfeited. If you want to guarantee faster download speeds and are willing to pay more, you could also take a look at the telco’s home fibre broadband package. (Source: U Mobile Press Release)
